The 2026 Koala Coloured Silver Coin is a special edition of The Perth Mint for the Brisbane Money Expo. The coin is presented on an illustrated collector's card, making it suitable not only for collecting but also for convenient display. The reverse of the coin depicts a koala perched on a tree trunk, holding a eucalyptus branch. The colourful background features a bright sunset and a eucalyptus forest. The composition is completed by the inscription KOALA, The Perth Mint mint mark P, the weight of the coin, the silver fineness and the year mark 2026. The design was created by Ing Ing Jong. The koala is one of Australia's most recognisable animals. These arboreal marsupials are mainly found in the eucalyptus forests of eastern and south-eastern Australia. Due to their low-energy diet, koalas spend most of their day sleeping or resting in tree branches. The coin is minted in 999.9 fine silver. It contains one troy ounce, or not less than 31.107 g of pure silver. The coin has a face value of 1 Australian dollar, a diameter of up to 40.90 mm, and a thickness of up to 3.50 mm. The obverse features a portrait of King Charles III by Dan Thorne. The coin has the status of an official Australian currency, but its collector value is also determined by its colorful design, special exhibition packaging, condition, and limited edition. The coin is placed in an illustrated presentation card with the Brisbane Money Expo and ANDA Special markings and the exhibition dates of 11–12 July 2026. The maximum mintage of this issue is 2,500 pieces.
