The reverse shows a profile of the poet A. Mickevičius with the buildings of Vilnius University in the background. At the bottom in a semicircle is ADOMAS MICKEVIČIUS, on the right 1798-1855.
On the obverse is the coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania in a shield, with a stylised feather underneath, with the inscription LIETUVA in a semicircle at the top, 50 LITAS at the bottom, and 1998 on either side of the coat of arms.
