The Perth Mint’s new Australian Lunar Series III coin celebrates the Year of the Snake. The Snake is the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac.
The obverse of the coin depicts a coiled snake resting on the ground beneath fallen leaves.
The design features the Chinese character for snake, the inscription
SNAKE 2025 and the Perth Mint’s P mark. This coin is the first of its
kind to feature the effigy of King Charles III on the reverse, designed
by Dan Thorne. The reverse also displays the weight, fineness and denomination.
Snakes have excellent control over their body movements and behaviour. This self-control is a remarkable character trait that sets them apart from many other animals. Overall,
snakes are complex and contradictory animals, with character traits
that can be interpreted in different ways depending on context and
perspective. Their fascinating nature has long been an object of admiration and respect in many cultures around the world. Those
born under the Chinese lunar sign of the Snake are considered
ambitious, successful, intelligent, independent and charismatic. The Year of the Snake coin is minted from five ounces of 999 pure silver.
