Velociraptors lived in the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 75–71 million years ago, in the territories of present-day Central and East Asia. These were relatively small, lightweight predators, distinguished by a curved, sickle-shaped claw on each hind foot. The reverse of the coin depicts a hunting velociraptor (Velociraptor mongoliensis). The main predator is chasing a smaller animal, while another velociraptor and a prehistoric mountain landscape are visible in the distance. The composition is complemented by the inscriptions “PREHISTORIC LIFE” and “VELOCIRAPTOR MONGOLIENSIS”.
