20 mark (7.16 g) gold coin Friedrich III, Germany, 1888

The German Empire was founded on January 18, 1871 with the proclamation of the Prussian King Wilhelm I as German Emperor in Versailles. In the course of the founding of the empire, a currency reform was carried out. The thaler was replaced by the mark as a means of payment. Each regent of the 25 states had the right to mint their own gold mark.
The portrait side shows the respective regent. On the other side are the national coat of arms, face value and year of issue.
