The reverse of the coin depicts a buffalo - one of the five largest animals in Africa. The bottom of the coin shows the coat of arms of the Republic of South Africa and the inscription SOUTH AFRICA, BIG FIVE 2026. 
The obverse features close-up images of two leopards. On the side of this coin is the face value, weight and fineness of the gold.
