This coin is dedicated to one of the best-known German comic characters, Ottifant. The elephant-like character was created by German comedian, actor and artist Otto Waalkes. The 2026 issue continues the Ottifant coin series launched in previous years.

The reverse depicts Ballonifant, an Ottifant holding onto a balloon and rising through a stylized sky scene. Clouds and small bird silhouettes add a sense of lightness and movement to the composition. The Latin phrase Fortes Fortuna Adiuvat appears around the edge of the coin and translates as Fortune Favors the Brave. The design was created by Otto Waalkes.

The coin is struck from 999.9 fine silver and contains one troy ounce, or 31.10 g, of pure silver. It measures 40.9 mm in diameter and 3.5 mm in thickness. The face value is 1 Tuvalu dollar. The coin is minted by The Perth Mint in Australia.

The obverse features the official design used on Tuvalu coins, together with the country name, the 2026 date and the face value. The coin is issued on behalf of Tuvalu and has legal tender status.
