The obverse showcases the elephant, one of the five largest African animals in its natural habitat. Beneath this depiction, in a circle, the Coat of Arms of South Africa and the words: SOUTH AFRICA, BIG FIVE 2024.
The reverse displays two close-up depictions of the elephant’s face. The inscriptions on this side, set on a central circle, refer to face value, weight, metal content, and fineness. They read: FIFTY RAND, 1 OZ, and Au 999.9.
