The
Royal Tudor Beasts: The Queen’s Lion 2 oz Silver 2026 is a striking
bullion coin minted from two ounces of 999.9 fine silver. It
is part of the prestigious Royal Tudor Beasts series, inspired by the
heraldic beast sculptures that guard the entrance to Hampton Court
Palace, one of King Henry VIII’s most important residences.
The theme of this issue is the Queen’s Lion, a proud and powerful
heraldic symbol created by order of Henry VIII to mark his marriage to
Jane Seymour. The lion holds a shield bearing Jane Seymour’s royal badge, symbolising her position and the legacy of the Tudor dynasty. The
reverse was designed by acclaimed artist David Lawrence and the project
was developed in collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces, the body
responsible for the conservation of Britain’s most important royal
residences.
The coin measures 38.61 mm in diameter, weighs 62.2 g and has a face value of £5. The
combination of historical significance and the character of the
precious metal makes it attractive to both collectors and investors.
Reverse: The Queen's Lion, a proud and powerful symbol, supports a
shield with the royal badge of Jane Seymour, symbolising her status and
Tudor heritage. The inscription "THE QUEEN'S LION" is engraved above the lion, and the year of issue 2026 is inscribed below.
Obverse: Portrait of King Charles III, face value of the coin.
