The city of Alcalá de Henares, which saw the birth of Miguel de Cervantes in 1547, was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO on December 2, 1998. This UNESCO recognition not only refers to the historical and artistic heritage that treasures the Complutense city but also to the trancesdente Alcalá contribution to world culture.

The reverse shows an image of the Plaza de Cervantes, Alcala de Henares, and in the foreground, the monument erected to the author of "Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha".
